A Memorial Dedicated to those Laid to Rest in the Poplar Springs missionary Baptist Church Original Cemetery
The Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church Original Cemetery dates back to late 19th century, where it acted as a cemetery for the attendees of the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church and many others for 100 years. It was one of the few cemeteries in the area where black residents could be laid to rest. In 1950, a new cemetery was built right beside the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. The original cemetery is a memorial for all those who have shaped Anson County, North Carolina. It is a testament to the importance of history, especially black history, which is so often overlooked. This website is a consistent work in progress, as new information is learned and new memorials are added.
